Welcome 2024

Wow. Time flies when your having fun, then you realise you haven’t wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We hope you have all had a lovely time.

What’s happening at the museum. Not sure where to start.

Let’s do a little walk around and see how we go.

John, now has a little job to do. The Butcher Shop has been built and is now in the process of being setup. Its coming together nicely with lots of local history, especially on the Castle Bacon company.

The Dairy will be getting a little change around now, with a few new/historical items arriving. Especially now that the butcher shop has taken its artifacts out. Ray will be busy in here.

With the arrival of the 42 Chev Fire Truck, so wonderfully donated before Christmas, the Fire Station is currently undergoing a complete change. Daryl will be busy working on over the next couple weeks.

The amazing Weigh Bridge that has quietly been sitting here looking a little unloved, with thanks to Noel is getting the much needed attention it deserves. Although being painted will need to wait for the cooler weather. Visitors can now enter the little building and see the scales used for weighing loads on the bridge. We are also adding other sets of scales in there over time.

The Tori Shed has had its slab poured and the frame is being constructed. Time, weather and money will determine how long it will be before this large extension is complete but without doubt it will be worth the wait.

The Crymu Shed. Not really sure if we should call it the Pumpkin shed as it seem to hold more and more wonderful items everytime I look. We are very lucky to have some amazing volunteers that have been working here, cleaning, sweeping, recently built new gates for easy access and a new glass front entrance door.

The front entrance shop is coming along nicely, Gordon is doing an fantastic job meeting and greeting visitors and selling goods.

The Gold display is also coming together nicely, our aim is to have all exhibits at the museum back in full action as soon as possible but we are aiming to make a big effort this Easter at our Rally. All hands on deck as they say.

Just for a little fun Jimmy, Renee, Peter (we need practice)and others have started a little Country Music jam session on a Wednesday night 7pm. If you’d like to come along and join in your welcome.

On the 20th January is one of our biggest fundraisers for the year. the Twilight Dinner is in Maldon . Our volunteers put in a huge effort for this event accomadating 800 guests, putting out tables, chairs, table clothes, cutlery, glasses and plates. Then at the end evening before they go home, the big cleanup and pack up. Often not getting home until early hours in the morning. Here is Just a little call out. If your free to help, we would really appreciate it.

More events to come throughtout the year. Please follow our Facebbok page as we are alot more active on there. Things to look forward to Easter Rally, TedX, Music Nights, Film Festival, Gothic Festival, Maldon Folk Festival.

Lastly, Thank you to our amazing volunteers, without you the museum would not be the place it is and be the place so many get to enjoy. Thank you for the hard work that you put in at events, serving drinks, food, taking tours, cleaning, gardening, building and just being the amazing people you are.
